It Is One Thing To Be A Smooth Baker, But It’s Another To Create The Perfectly Div

There may be a couple of people out there who don’t love cakes unlike you. But hey! That means more cake for you! 🙂

We tend to hang on to our fascinations for these delectable creations because of the heavenly taste that makes us forget reality. One perfect example is the smoothness of this Red Velvet Cake recipe. From the creaminess of its frosting, up to the distinct velvety texture of this cake. It’s like dessert clouds melting in your mouth.

At the end of this post, you will find a video demonstration of this recipe. For now, check out the step-by-step Red Velvet Cake Recipe, here.

You will be needing the following to make the cake:

  • 2 2/3 cups (310 g) cake flour
  • 2 tbsp (10 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp (5 g) baking soda
  • 1 tsp (5 g) salt
  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cup (300 g) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (220 g) vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) white vinegar
  • 2 tsp (10 g) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240 g) buttermilk, room temperature
  • 1 – 2 oz red food coloring gel

For the frosting, here are the things you need:

  • 1 1/4 cup (156 g) powdered sugar
  • 17 oz (500 g) cream cheese, room temperature

Step 1: Mix all dry ingredients.

Mix the cake flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda and salt into the bowl.

Step 2: Mix all the wet ingredients.

In another bowl, add all the wet ingredients. Start with the butter and sugar first. Beat until well combined, then add eggs one at a time.
Next, add the vegetable oil, white vinegar, vanilla extract, and the buttermilk while stirring continuously. Make sure to mix really well every after you add an ingredient.

Step 3: Combine wet and dry mixtures.

Incorporate both wet and dry mixtures. Gradually add the dry mixture while mixing. Add the red food coloring gel, then again mix thoroughly. Prepare two cake pans that are greased with butter and dusted with flour.

Step 4: Bake the Cake.

Pour the batter evenly into each pan. Bake in preheated oven at 350°F or that’s 180 °C in exactly 30 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center of the cake to make sure it’s thoroughly baked before you remove the cake from the oven. Let it cool before removing the cake from the pan.

Step 5. Decorate the Cake

Now gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture. To create a flat surface, slice a thin layer from the top cake, and set aside for crumbs later. Add a bit less than half of frosting at the top of the cake, and cover it with the other. Cover the cake with frosting. Decorate with cake crumbs.

Get ready to serve!

Let your family enjoy the product of your loving labor, an enticing and delicious piece of this smooth Red Velvet Cake!
