Melt Your Kids’ Heart With These Five Flavorful Popsicle
Summer fun for kids includes endless supplies of popsicles in your fridge. If your kids love to snack ice pops after their afternoon siesta, then you better stock up your freezer with these frozen goodies.
What is good with popsicle or ice pop is that it is easy to make. Some flavors can be prepared in less than 5 minutes.
I personally like to serve these frozen treats to my kids (and sometimes their playmates who usually come to the house in the afternoon) because these are not only delicious but also healthy snacks.
Just like these best summer recipes I got from Gemma Stafford, I also use real fruits and avoid artificial flavors.
So, let’s not delay and let’s check these 5 quick and easy frozen treats.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Blender/ Food Processor
Ice Pop Maker Molds
Wooden Treat Sticks
Frozen Treat #1 – Fresh Mango & Strawberry Popsicles
INGREDIENTS:
12-15 large fresh Strawberry, Hulled And Halved
2 whole Ripe Mango, Peeled, Pitted And Cut Into Chunks
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Puree Mango
Using your blender, puree mango chunks until smooth, then set aside.
Step 2. Puree Strawberry
Follow step 1, make sure the strawberries are already smooth before setting aside.
Step 3. Fill the Molds
Divide the mold into 3 parts, fill ⅓ way with mango puree, followed with another ⅓ of Strawberry puree, then another mango puree.
TIP: You can interchange the pattern.
Step 4. Freeze the Popsicle
Cover mold, add the sticks, then freeze the popsicle for about 5 hours or overnight.
Frozen Treat #2. Creamsicle
INGREDIENTS:
1 1 /2 cups (12oz/ 360g) greek yogurt
4 tablespoons sugar (honey, agave or stevia)
3/4 cup (6floz/180g) cream
1/4 tsp vanilla
2 Cups (16floz/ 400ml) fresh orange juice
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1. Mix the Ingredients
Mix the first 4 ingredients together in a bowl.
Step 2.Fill the Molds
In your mold, scoop your yogurt mix and fill the mold ½ way, then take your orange juice and fill the mold to the top.
TIP: For added effect, you can also swirl the yogurt and orange juice together
Step 3. Freeze the Popsicle
Cover mold, add the sticks, then freeze the popsicle for about 5 hours or overnight.
Frozen Treat # 3. Fudgesicles
INGREDIENTS:
4 oz (120g) chopped semi-sweet chocolate
3/4 cup (6floz/180g) heavy cream
1/2 cup (4floz/115g) milk
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1. Chopped Chocolate
Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl; set aside.
Step 2. Combine Other Ingredients
Combine heavy cream, milk, and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk the cocoa until it is dissolved and the mixture comes to a simmer. Remove from heat and pour over chocolate. Allow it to stand for 2-3 minutes. Whisk until smooth, stirring in vanilla.
Step 3. Fill the Molds
Before filling the molds, pour through a fine-mesh strainer first to make sure that there’s no clumpy cocoa powder. Then, divide the mixture evenly among the molds.
Step 4. Freeze the Popsicle
Cover mold, add the sticks, then freeze the popsicle for about 5 hours or overnight.
Frozen Treat #4.Lemonade Popsicles
INGREDIENTS:
1 Kiwi, peeled and thinly sliced
10 raspberries, cut in half
5 strawberries
1 peach
10 Blueberries
2 Cups (16floz/ 400ml) fresh Lemonade (or any fruit juice of your choice)
lime zest (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1. Add Fruit Selection
Add your favorite sliced fruits.
Step 2. Zest the Lime
Zest the lime into your lemonade. This is optional but I think you should try it because it tastes amazing and fresh.
Step 3. Fill the Molds
Fill your mold to the top with fresh lemonade.
Step 4. Freeze the Popsicle
Cover mold, add the sticks, then freeze the popsicle for about 5 hours or overnight.
Frozen Treat #5- Rainbow Popsicles
INGREDIENTS:
2 kiwis
10 large strawberry halves
1 mango, roughly chopped
30 blueberries, roughly
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1. Puree the Fruits
Working with one fruit at a time, puree in a small food processor.
Tip: Rinse the machine out between fruits.
Step 2. Fill the Molds
In filling the molds, spoon carefully the fruits layer by layer.
Tip: You can also freeze this popsicle layer by layer, if you want a perfect line.
Step 3. Freeze the Popsicle
Cover mold, add the sticks, then freeze the popsicle for about 5 hours or overnight.
NOTES
The fruit amounts are only approximate. If you have bigger molds, you probably need more, and less if otherwise. Another option is to add a little water or yogurt to stretch the amount of your fruit.
TIP: Run the molds under warm water to loosen up the popsicles.
