Baking Tips That Will Make Your Work Easy-Peasy

C’mon. Don’t deny it. We love baking as much as we love cakes. We love the smell of the oven-fresh baked goods we prepare. Or could be that we love watching others bake and hope we have the same talent because we hate the measuring part so much and that’s the only bitter truth that’s keeping us from trying to do so? Worry no more for we have 7 reliable tips on baking to help unleash the chef in you!

1. Bake with unsalted butter.

Using unsalted butter will help you control the amount of sodium in what you’re baking. If there is a need for you to use an alternative for salted butter, then lessen the additional salt into half.

2. Your current mood matters.

This ain’t a superstition. Yes, you read it right. Several pastry chefs experienced it first hand, that their baked goods don’t turn out that way it should be when they’re in a bad mood. Measuring will become rough for you since you’ll feel heavy-handed. Only bake when you feel relaxed. Share positive vibes through those goodies!

3. Scrape your bowl.

Not taking all the time you need in preparing your batter mixture and not scraping through the sides of the mixing bowl are the most common mistakes we unknowingly do. We know that every step we do should be precise in baking. If you fail to scrape the sides of your mixing bowl, important ingredients will be left and your batter mix will be inconsistent. A malleable spatula is a great cooking utensil for scraping.

4. Pan size.

Whatever size the pan is being stated in the recipe, that should be the only size you’ll use. It’s important to follow exact instructions. Because if not, expect the goods that you’ll bake to cook either much slower or faster. You wouldn’t want this to happen.

5. Cooling.

The best time to take out the cookies from the oven is when its center looks faintly under-baked and the edges are golden. Put those on a cookie sheet and let it cool for some soft, good-to-nibble cookies.

6. Cool before frosting.

Not only can we apply the saying “Patience is a virtue” in life. Apply it to baking as well. It’s important, especially when you’re frosting. Unless your cookies, cakes or cupcakes are completely cooled, do not ever frost.

7. Another way to check if your cake is greatly baked.

Aside from using toothpicks/skewers, you’ll know your cake is ready when you touch it and it bounces back. Or you can also tell by its appearance. If it’s golden and pillowy, and the edges pull away from the pan, then it’s good to go.
