Memorial Day Food | How to Make The Juiciest Burgers

May 9, 2023 By Cathy Baker Leave a Comment

Memorial Day is near and once again the country will be abuzz with excitement and the colors of the flag will be decorated every household. This important day is held primarily to honor the brave soldiers who died serving their country, and it is one of the most important times of the year where people gather together and remember those brave souls. And what is this day without overflowing and belly-busting Memorial Day food, especially delicious grilled burgers? Check out this recipe from Fifteen Spatulas for the popular (and controversial) Minneapolis Juicy Lucy burgers — the perfect burger for Memorial Day!

Memorial Day Food | How to Make Juicy Lucy Burgers You’ll Go Crazy For

Heat Up Your Grill For The Best Memorial Day Food You Will Ever Taste!

Are you excited for Memorial Day? Of course, you are! Why would you be checking this recipe out in the first place? For some of you, Memorial Day is the time you honor the memories of your loved ones who gave up the normal life to serve their country, and for some of you, it is the time when you gather with your family and friends again to share stories, fun, and companionship.

I remember that one Memorial Day event I attended, it was nice, but what stood out for me the most was how delicious the food was, especially the burgers! Being a fan of burgers (of food in general, actually), that’s what really stuck in my mind. Now that Memorial Day is near again, it would be an atrocity not to share to you the recipe for one of the most delicious and popular Memorial Day food ever created. It tops the list along with steak and potato salad.

I present to you the recipe for Juicy Lucy burger, the cheeseburger with melted cheddar cheese oozing inside a delectable meaty patty — a signature Minneapolis dish.

Check out the recipe below.

Ingredients:

1 lb of ground beef, 85% lean meat
12 small square slices of cheddar cheese
4 medium-sized sesame seed bun
4 slices of large red tomatoes
4 pieces of crisp Butter lettuce leaves
1/2 cup of Hellman’s Light Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of MW Polar Sriracha Chili Sauce
1 tablespoon of Maille Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon of paprika
3/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of rock salt
A dash of black pepper

Instructions:

Step 1: The Beef Patties

Season the beef with half a teaspoon of salt and then separate into eight parts. Flatten into thin patties, then season again with a quarter teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of garlic powder, and a sprinkling of black pepper.

Step 2: Cheese Filling

Place the cheese slices in the center of the first four patties and cover each of them with the remaining patties. Seal the edges firmly and compress into a more round-sided lump.

Step 3: The Grilling

In a grilling pan, cook the patties on each side until they turn into a delicious brown color.

Step 4: Homemade Sauce

Combine the rest of the ingredients (except the buns, lettuce, and tomatoes) in a bowl and mix thoroughly until smooth.

Step 5: Assemble, Cut, and Serve!

Assemble the burgers however you want, slice them up, and watch as that creamy luscious cheese oozes out of the center of the patty.  Take a bite and enjoy!

Want to watch the recipe getting made in action? Check out the video from Fifteen Spatulas:

Awesome, right? Just looking at it makes your mouth water! It’s perfectly easy and great to make either for large events with lots of people or for a small cozy gathering of loved ones. But if I were you, I’d start getting my kitchen ready to make some for a bit of taste, because for sure, on the actual day, it would be the first Memorial Day food to run out in your table.

‘Educational’ refers to the process, not the object. Although, come to think of it, some of my teachers could easily have been replaced by a cheeseburger. – Terry Pratchett
